It’s that time of year again!  The sun is shining, the weather’s starting to warm up and I’ve got more pep in my step.  It’s springtime!  After a long winter, albeit a mild one, I can finally see the change of seasons.  This time of year holds lots of promise, summer is right around the corner, farmers markets will soon begin to open, festivals will begin to ramp up and the number of outdoor events will begin to increase.  Can you tell I’m excited about the months to come!  With all of these exciting changes on the horizon, now’s a good time to take a look around the house and prepare.  I find that a few minor touches around the house help to sustain this positive outlook and shake off remnants of the drab winter months.  Check out the list below for ideas on how to get ready for the new season.

Who can relate to this?  You have 10 mins left until you absolutely have to leave the house, your little ones are dragging their feet and you’re still trying to grab everything you need for the day.  But wait, no one has had breakfast yet!  What to do!?  For anyone whose experienced this, here’s a list of time saving options that you can either prepare very quickly in the morning or the night before to allow you to simply grab and go when you just don’t seem to have enough time to get everything done.  We’ve all been told that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and it’s very true.  Research has shown that eating breakfast reduces overeating later in the day and allows children to perform better throughout their day.

9 Quick Tips For Travelling With Kids


It’s that time of year again, March Break is upon us folks.  Whether you’re travelling with your family this week or planning a trip this spring or summer, there are a number of things to consider when travelling with little ones.  I recall the first family vacation with Miss O at 5 months old.  I was nervous because we were flying and I wasn’t sure how she’d react to the changing pressure in the cabin.  She ultimately did very well, proving that I was needlessly worried.  I did a lot of research prior to the trip (I know, first time mom here) but much of my learning came from my experience from that and subsequent trips.  Here’s a list of some of the lessons I’ve learned along the way.  Hopefully you can use these during your next trip.

Now that you have little ones in your life there may be times when it feels like some of the things you used to enjoy are out of reach.  At least for now.  Activities such as dining out with your spouse, family or friends might seem a little daunting when you consider the temperament of kids.  Restaurants have lots of interesting new things for them to see and the urge to explore might be too much for them to overcome.  And we shouldn’t expect them to, after all, exploring is how they learn.  Fortunately, the activities you loved to indulge in before becoming a parent don’t have to be out of reach.  Through trial and error I’ve learned what works personally and share these key learnings with you below.  Consider using some of these options the next time you dine out.  Our lives don’t have to change drastically when we have little ones in tow, we just have to get a little creative and adjust accordingly.

5 Ways To Increase Your Water Intake

We’ve all heard about the importance of adequate water intake. Since the body weight of an average adult is made up of 60-70% of water, it’s key to stay hydrated to ensure the continued normal functioning of the various systems within our bodies.

There’s no hard and fast rule as to how much water we need but ensuring that you avoid dehydration is key. However, having a general intake goal in mind doesn’t hurt. Women can aim for between 8 – 10 cups (2 litres) of water each day.

Reaching for a glass of water is by far the quickest and easiest way to stay hydrated (plus zero calories!). Keeping a water bottle with you at all times is quick and easy. In addition to water, there are a number of ways to ensure you meet your water intake needs. Various foods and drinks contain adequate amounts to ensure you remain hydrated and healthy.
